What is Biodanza?

Biodanza makes it possible to reconnect with the pleasure of movement, joy in the moment, freedom of expression, & the feeling of being fully alive.

Biodanza develops gradually, cummulatively and durably. If practised regularly, our creativity, our passions, our friendships and our potential are enhanced.

It acts on the psychological, the biological and the physiological levels: Biodanza is recognized to have a powerful effect on health, (in England and in Chile, it is an official complementary medicine).

Dancing Your Life

Integrating feeling and action, being driven by a natural grace, expressing ourselves with ease and spontaneity, being more sensitive, surer, more disposed towards adventure, joy and love for life, are what helps manifest the expression of our potential.

Rolando Toro

How does it work?

With various pieces of music that have been carefully chosen, the group is invited to try out the dance-exercises which compose the workshop. The movements are simple and are carried out together. Dancing alone, with another, or with several, it is not about looking good, it is about the feelings evoked. Nothing is ever imposed and all the proposals are accessible to all.

All the dances raise the level of feeling and wellbeing, and reinforce the identity. The dance is a natural pleasure, one of integration of body and emotion.

Biodanza carefully eliminates stress and increases self-confidence. Walk, dance, jump, play, laugh and fly…… From 4 years to 89 years, everyone can do it!

Originally

Rolando Toro de Araneda, a Chilean, was a psychologist and professor of medical anthropology. Also a well known painter & Poet.

Over 40 years, he developed the Biodanza system: Drawing from both his own research, related to the expansion of conscience, and the most significant breakthroughs of the vast field of social sciences (biology, human ethology, neuropsychiatry, etc…).

Rolando continuously nourished the expansion of Biodanza, which is known and practised in more than twenty countries, in its common form (dance classes and workshops) as well as in its applications (private clinic, biocentric education and in organizations).
